BarWars ("we," "our," or "us") operates the BarWars mobile application and website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and university affiliation (.edu email). If you sign up through a Greek organization or Hessian Company, we store your organizational membership.
Location Data: With your permission, we collect real-time location data to power the War Map, verify bar check-ins, detect war zone entry for skin transitions, and enable the Bracelet Hunt scavenger system. You can disable location sharing at any time through your device settings or the in-app privacy toggle.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, skins purchased, predictions placed, and messages sent through War Comms channels.
Payment Information: When you purchase skins, War Bonds, or other in-app items, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We retain transaction records (amount, item purchased, date) for your purchase history.
Device Information: We collect device identifiers for anti-fraud purposes (one account per device policy), push notification tokens for Rally alerts, and basic device metadata (OS version, app version).
Photos: If you choose to set a profile picture, we access your photo library with your permission. We do not access photos without explicit action from you.
Camera: The camera is used exclusively for scanning QR codes on bracelets during the Bracelet Hunt feature. We do not record video or capture images through the camera.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Messages sent in War Room channels are visible only to members of that organization. Hessian Company channels are visible only to company members. Battlefield channels are public during live events. Direct messages are visible only to the two participants. We may review flagged messages for content moderation purposes.
The live radar feature shows your approximate location on the War Map as a skin icon. You can disable this at any time using the privacy toggle (eye icon) on the map. When disabled, your location is not shared with other users. Location data is not stored permanently — we retain only your most recent location update for active map display, and location history older than 30 minutes is automatically deleted.
When you use a Deception skin (False Flag, Ghost Cloak, Decoy, or Doppelganger), your true identity is protected from other users. The Mole Scanner feature can detect False Flag skins within a proximity radius but reveals only that a disguise is present — it does not reveal the user's real identity to other users. Deception logs are maintained for game integrity purposes only.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account > Delete Account, or by emailing privacy@barwars.app; email requests are completed within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your personal information, including your profile and predictions. Messages you posted in shared War Comms channels and game records such as turf claims and battle results remain visible to other players but are no longer linked to you. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure authentication, row-level security policies on all database tables, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
BarWars is intended for college students aged 18 and older. We require .edu email verification for certain features. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18. If we discover that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete that information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
